From Saturday:

My father William Hart has Brain and Lung cancer. -- Judy Mobley

From Sunday:

Please keep my family in your prayers. After owning my own bussiness for eight years the economy and the housing market took it's tole on me and I had to get a job with another company.  I had a hard time dealing with this because the company lacked ethics, but I took the job anyway in order to feed my family.Well now I have been laid off because of the housing market once again, and as it turns out I don't qualify for unemployment benefits because of a technicality with not working two complete quarters.I don't know whats in store for me next but I ask that you keep my family in your prayers in hopes that I can figure out a way to take care of them. -- Scott

Sorry I missed your service the past 2 weeks and I really needed it I know! However, this email and request are not for me but for my Mother & Father. I understand that my wife Kris spoke with to this morning and told you about having the prayer team include Mom in their thoughts and prayers! Brief Overview: Leona Brown (Mom) she turned 74 in August. Bob Brown (Father). 3 children (Greg (older brother) myself and a younger sister Lisa). Each are married and my brother has 2 children and Kris & I have 2 girls, and Lisa has 1 step daughter. Mom had a Stint put in 1 kidney on November 3rd and all went well - then about 1 week later she became sick. Last Sunday I carried her to the Emergency room and she is still there 1 week later (today). While we reviewed items of concern 1 medication that was needed for the blood flow/clots etc... that she needs to take made her very ill and she had bad reactions to it. When she was taking off this med she had a heart attack. She has been moved several times within the hospital and into and now thankfully out of the critical care unit. They are working on changes to her medications and adjusting those items... on Monday the physical rehab group is going to assess her for mobility and if she can move or get about. These items are vital as to how or when she might be able to recover and return home. There are still some major decisions once we have an understanding of the new medications if she can or will tolerate - then we must decide about going back into surgery for stints into her heart for the blockage. If she can't take the medicine then the stints will NOT be an option and thus might impact her quality of life. She is a strong woman and wonderful Mother and wife to my father - she came from a big family of 9 brothers and sisters, only 1 is still alive today a sister in MN but her Mother, Fathers and 6 of them have passed from either Heart Attack or Stroke - thus you see our huge concern. Mom & Dad due to many factors came to live with Kris & our family 3 years ago; we are so lucky and blessed to have them in our lives every day. While there are some life adjustments for the family not all of which have been easy - I thank God for my wife and her understanding and love for my family but also the blessing that God has provided me given the full circle of events. Please know that Mom not more than a month ago mentioned to me that she and Dad needed to become active within church again. We of course have and will continue to invite them into our church - They raised us all within the Baptist faith. One thing for sure that I can tell you is that regardless of the hands they have been given they have always believed in God has our Lord and Savior. -- Ken

From Sunday's Response Cards:

*Tim as he starts new job. * Michelle as I stay in Acworth. * Tiffany that God will show her the correct life path; she is in a very bad place. -- Michelle

Please pray that my twin 13yo sons Matt & Nick will come and live with me. Their spirit and self-esteem are being lowered every day. They need to be with me now. Pray for sale of my condo. Please cont. to pray for Bill who has cancer. Pray for my family. -- Kevin

Josh & Jen, for a troubled marriage.

Prayers for the M. family with their marriage problems. -- Liz

The prayer life of Jesus

The Zone Gathering writes:

Probably the most common characteristic of Jesus’ prayer life is that He often withdrew to a solitary place to pray. Matthew 14:23 says that “After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray.” He often slipped away to the wilderness or lonely places to pray. His 40 days and nights of fasting in the wilderness (Matt. 4:1-2) undoubtedly involved much prayer, as the two disciplines are often linked in Scripture (we will discuss the relationship between fasting and prayer in a future Bible Drill). Luke 5:16 tells us “But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.” Indeed, even on the eve of His crucifixion, He prepared by separating himself from the disciples and praying for deliverance and submitting His will to God’s (Matt. 26:36-44; Luke 22:39-46).

Prayer Requests Wed. 11/12

Please pray for this family and their child.  Here is an update on Leland “Pickle” Erickson: As of Tuesday November 4th, 2008 Leland’s results came in from the cytogenetic test.  Unfortunately, the results showed that Leland had a rare disease not often found in children called Myelodysplastic Syndrome, or MDS.  The Doctors explained that they were unprepared for this diagnosis, as they were certain it would not be MDS, as MDS is usually seen in people 60+ years.  Myelodysplastic Syndrome is a term used to describe a a group of cancers of the blood and bone marrow.  MDS is commonly referred to as “pre~leukemia”.  In Lelands case, the Doctors believe Leland is developing Acute Myelogenous Leukemia, or AML.  Leland will have another Bone Marrow Biopsy, to search for “blasts” (cancerous cells). Since Leland has MDS, treatment is a must.  Without treatment, MDS is fatal.  Our family was just tested to see if one of us was a match to donate our Bone Marrow.  The results take about 3 weeks to come in.  We hope and pray that one of us will match perfectly!  The treatment for MDS and AML are chemotherapy and then a Bone Marrow Transplant.  The Doctors hope to begin chemotherapy as soon as possible. -- shelly powell

Prayer Requests Tues. 11/11

Wanted to make sure you guys got this update on Mike Brown.... -- Bonnie Hoover

Hi Everyone....Well Mike had another close call at dialysis today.First I want to say a BIG Thanks for those of you who knew and prayed for him. I really do believe I could do a better job and I don't even know how to do it!! He went at his normal time and called me about an hour or so after saying he was coming home and we needed to go see the vascular Dr. This after not even a month!! This because the one who never can get it right had to stick him this morning because the only one that could do it was too busy.  (WHAT EVER!!). To understate he was VERY upset. The Dr.told him he needed to tell them he only wants to nurses who know how to stick him  to do it.That's not always going to work... but we also talked about him changing centers and go back to Woodstock. The head nurse that was soooo bad has been gone for awhile and they now have maybe the 5th new one. The social worker seemed to think she's gonna be pretty good so we may go by the center tomarrow if he stays hm. He does plan on starting things after the new year for his evaluation(for a transplant)...keep that in your prayers too!! Well we need Mike in good shape for the end of this month. Mike's family......... aunts and cousins, sister and family are getting together, meeting in Tenn. Thanksgiving weekend to meet his brother's children Kris and Jennifer and even more exciting to finally meet 2 sweet little girls. Mike's GREAT nieces,Grace just about to turn 6yrs and Nora 3yrs(they look like Jen when she was little). It's gonna be Christmas for all of us,mostly for the girls. We can not wait and I'm sure it will be a good time. Well I better go check on Mike,he went to bed when we got hm and we need to put ice on his arm(it's all blk & blue). Hope all of you are doing good and Thanks again for you prayers,we LOVE you ALL!! -- Monika Brown

Please pray for me as I have a final job interview Thursday and desperately need the job.  I was told that my current job will be going away at the end of 2008. -- Gina

Prayer Requests Mon. 11/10

I have a couple of prayer requests.  Daniel Petkus, the (upright) bass player in the qroup I am in (Highway 41) cut off about an inch and a half of his middle finger on his left hand Friday afternoon.  He did it in a sheet metal press.  He had just gotten a brand new bass (orderered 2 weeks ago) and was excited to practice at his place in Elijay.  As Grady Clark and I were traveling to Elijay yesterday morning, Daniel called and gave us the news. The other prayer request is for a dear friend at a church (Chapel Woods Presbyterian) I used to be on staff.  His name is Wille Foote, he was the Metro Atlanta Youth For Christ Director.  He had an accident, also in Elijay, at Gilmer Co. High School.  He  fell off of the 2nd step of a ladder or the 2nd step going up to the stage (details are fuzzy) and suffered some brain damage and was taken to a hospital in Chattanooga, Tn.  I just got this update:

All, We found out this morning the results of the latest cat scan. The swelling in the brain had increased. This wasn't the news we wanted to hear. Virginia's brother-in-law came and he is a doctor. He was able to look at the medical charts and help us understand more what is going on. The bleeding in the brain has not stopped. He did say that he was encouraged with Willie's movement. It is a sign that he is aware of his surroundings and can tell when people are visiting him. This is the most critical time for the bleeding to stop in the next couple of days or surgery may be required to go in and try to stop the bleeding. Today most of the family were able to come and be here for the weekend. That was great encourgement for Virginia. Also,Mom is still very encouraged with the emails I have recieved. Thank you. Also, a friend of the family contacted us and has offered us a place to stay just 20 minutes from the hospital. At this time I will have to return to Orlando on Tuesday. Now is the time we will juggle our schedules to make sure mom isn't alone and has the support she needs. Thank you for all the support. -- Daryl Foote

Thank you and God bless -- Eric Cain
